Lonnie James Martin, 34, of Mishawaka, passed away October 4, 2024 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.  He was born July 26, 1990 in Elkhart to Lawrence and Linda (Martin) Martin.


Lonnie grew up attending Salem Mennonite Church.  He had a big heart and was willing to help anyone in need.  He loved his family and his three nieces and three nephews.  He especially enjoyed fixing up power wheels and set up a swing set for them.   Lonnie attended Wakarusa Elementary School and Harrison Christian School.  He later earned his GED with honors.  He enjoyed serving at various missions in Haiti.  Lonnie was mechanically inclined and was very good at fixing things.  He especially liked Chevy square body trucks.  He always had a project he was working on.   Lonnie grew up working alongside his dad at Champion Well Drilling.  He also worked at Marway Construction and Miller Stove and Fireplace.  He was currently employed at JW Ready Mix.  He also had his own business, His Mechanic General Repair.


 Lonnie is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Linda Martin, Goshen; sisters, Lori Martin, Goshen, Lindsey (Mark) Yoder and family, Rachel, Charlotte, Heidi, Hudson, Syracuse, and brother, Landen (Amanda) Martin and family, Benjamin and Felix, Milford.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Clara Martin; maternal grandparents, Norman and Lena Martin; uncle Lester Martin; and aunt Mable F. Martin.


Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8, Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at  Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa and for 1 hour prior to the 10:00 am Funeral Service, Thursday, Oct. 10th at Salem Mennonite Church, New Paris. Home Ministry will officiate and burial will be in Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations my be given to Christian Witness Mission, Haiti.  Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
