Not sure what to say?

A professor, mentor and friend. He taught me the joy of teaching.

We are saddened to hear of a loss of a very kind soul indeed. We are comforted knowing that he is now gardening with all of his beloved dachshunds that went before him. Our sincere condolences.

Dr. Vandeveer was a professor of mine in the mid 80's. He taught me several classes, was an advisor to my academic life and still remains a fond memory of my time a LSU. I still remember his style of teaching and some of his presentations in my daily work. His teaching have helped me to think as a economist as I do my daily job of helping farmers and running a seed company. He will truly be missed at LSU.

My sincere condolences to the Vandeveer family. I learned of Lonnie's passing and it saddened me. He was a kind, caring and helpful individual, and a professors at LSU's College of Agriculture that students were drawn to due to his nurturing nature. I know we will miss him, but I also realize that he touched many lives during his time on this Earth, and therefore, will live in the hearts, memories, and actions of scores of individuals everywhere.

Dr. Vandeveer was an ag teacher of mine in the mid 80's. Although my financial accomplishment is not as good as he presented, I learned from him a direction in my agricultural life. I saw him on occasions at LSU and he always remembered me as a student. He will be missesd on LSU campus. Best wishes to his family.

Bonnie - I was so sad to learn of Lonnie's passing. It was such a pleasure to work with him the three years with the editorship of the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics (JAAE); he will be missed. Linda Crenwelge
