Loraine Richardson

Loraine Thelma Richardson, 88, of Fairmont passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at her home. She was born in Rivesville on April 11, 1929 a daughter of the late Orvil H. and Thelma R. (Prickett) Bowles. Mrs. Richardson was a long-standing member of the Merrifield Memorial Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church. Her church activities included, Teacher of Sunday School Classes, Youth Director, WCTU membership, Women's Mission, Volunteer Work at Church Camp and she held many offices in the Church. Loraine loved children and young people. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She retired from the Marion County Board of Education after several years of service. She is survived by her sons, Hershell L. Woods and his wife Delores of Wilmington, North Carolina and Perry F. Woods and his wife Frances of Angier, North Carolina: her grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Steve Snyder, Hershell Perry Woods II, Danielle and Warren Lanagan and Justin Crouse and two great grandchildren, Stephen and Kaillyn Snider. Also surviving is her sister, Barbara Prunty and her husband Paul of Fairmont; her brother, Jack Bowles and his wife Peggy of Ohio and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Loraine was preceded in death by her husbands, Hershell Perry Woods and Jerry Richardson; her daughter, Evelyn Kay Crouse, brothers, Edward Bowles, James Edward Bowles; her sisters, Priscilla Hawkins and Pearl Beckman. Friends and family may Call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm and on Friday from 10am to 11am. The funeral service will be on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald R. Yoder officiating. Interment services will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
