Not sure what to say?

Mr. Ward photographed many of our families team photographs that line our sports wall in our television room. Mr. Ward always greeted you and with his easy conversation and quick wit you could easily see why he was a Phi Beta Kappa. He was an excellent ambassador for the Cedar Rapids Gazette and always spoke so highly of our father. I would always look for the signature LW Ward at all of the multitudes of excellent photographs that he took for the Gazette. You would always see him...

He was a classmate and I had lost touch with him. Sorry I was out of town when I got the news of his passing. I would love to be able to talk to any of his friends or family. He always took our class pictures at our class reunions. Rest in peace Loraine. We were the class of 1951.

I met L.W. when I tended bar at the Airliner in the early 1980s. He and I shared Oelwein as our high school alma mater and he remembered that when we bumped into each other in Madison in the early 2000s.

He was a nice man with an encyclopedic knowledge of the midwest and its history. I'm sorry to hear of his passing but I reckon he'll have friends wherever he ends up.

I first became acquainted with L.W. during 1960s while I was involved with selling photo equipment. I looked forward to his visits as a customer.
His friendly manner was remarkable. He had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. Telling countless stories was a constant throughout the years when ever we would meet.
L.W.'s humor, personality and photographic skills will be missed.

I met L.W. 4 or 5 years ago at the Mt. Vernon Rd. Hy-Vee Market & Grill. He'd come there every day, & always had interesting life experiences to talk about. He loved reading novels, the Gazette & his crossword puzzles in the Gazette. He'd always have a big two-liter pop & food from the Hy-Vee kitchen or salad bar.

He told great stories of his life with an amazing memory for the smallest details. Many is the time we had long conversations of his adventures. He always had a smile for...

Good friend if Harry Suchomel over the years. I remember him coming to our house and taking a family photo for our Christmas card the year I was a sophomore at U of I. He always had a smile for everyone.
