Loren Hays

We are all deeply saddened to hear of Loren's passing. Debbie's relatives in Wisconsin/Minnesota will all miss him. We always enjoyed visiting with him when they would come to visit in the summer. We appreciated his friendliness and enjoyed the interesting conversations about birds.

Loren was an incredibly talented and effective man who was particularly passionate about wildlife conservation. We had the same graduate advisor. I am grateful that he helped to mentor me as a young biologist. He was very generous to me, and others, with his time, even when he did not have to. His work - over many years - is a major reason why the least Bell's vireo is a recovering species. When I hear a vireo, I will remember him.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Loren's passing. He was a wonderful man and a great co-worker who never failed to impart his knowledge to others.
