Obituary

On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, we lost a brilliant educator and a beautiful human being. Lorena J. R. Malbrough, life-long teacher and loving mother of four children, passed away, peacefully at hospice after a recent difficult battle with COVID, at the age of 90. Lorena was a loving and free-spirited woman who never took life for granted. Lorena grew up on a farm in rural Louisiana where she was baptized and confirmed at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church.

In recent years, Lorena served as a trusted advisor to numerous community and education leaders. To us, Lorena was a champion of education, passionate about making classrooms, schools and districts work for all students. As family, her compassion and warmth were unparalleled, and we miss her dearly. Lorena regularly greeted his friends and colleagues with the expression, "all is good" to "the best is yet to come." These words captured so much of her spirit, which shared generously with every life he touched. Lorena, we bless your memory with great love for you, for you have written your love upon our hearts. Go your way in peace, and may your memory be a blessing to all who knew you. The following scripture lessons are particularly applicable to memorial services. Isaiah 35:5-7 and 40:31

She was known for her affectionate personality, joyful laugh, and caring soul. Lorena was blessed with several nieces, nephews, siblings, grandchildren, and her children – Jay, Lawrence, Shawn, and Dione-with her long-time deceased partner in life. Blessed be her memory.

Remembering the precious memories over the full life she lived as we honor the legacy of this unforgettable woman and her indelible impact on us all.
