Lorene Koehler Lloyd, 83, born in Little Rock, August 20, 1920 to Julius and Josie Koehler, passed away, Monday August 25, 2003. Lorene grew up on Koehler’s Dairy located in Sherwood off what is now Koehler Drive. The widow of Melvin C. Lloyd, she is also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Pauline Couch and son, Roy Gene Lloyd.
Lorene was a graduate of North Little Rock High School and started working in 1953 as a bakery manager, first for Camp Bakery in California and then managed bakeries in Little Rock for both Safeway and Weingarten’s stores. Lorene was a charter member of North Little Rock First Church of the Nazarene, now Brockington Road Nazarene Church. She was a member of the G.I.A. Ladies Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. She was a friend to many and always an optimistic and positive influence in others lives. During her years of battling cancer, many times she was lifting others up while very ill herself and always had a smile and a quick wit to give to others. She was always generous with her homemade bread, jellies, cakes and salsa.
Lorene leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Dr. Curtis Lloyd and wife, Linda, of Ozark, Missouri and Harold Lloyd and wife, Holly, of Little Rock; daughter, Sandra Lloyd, of North Little Rock; brother, Calvin Koehler, of Espendido, California; six grandchildren, Christa Lloyd, Robert Lloyd and wife, Stephanie, all of Houston, Texas; Jason Lloyd and wife, Yvette, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Sara Bandy and husband, Kevin, of Kansas City, Missouri, Jessica Pitts and husband, Mike, of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Samantha Lloyd, of Little Rock. She also had two great-grandchildren, Haley Lloyd, of Houston, Texas and Triston Lloyd, of Knoxville, Tennessee and a number of nieces and nephews including Edward Tix, of Dallas, Texas, Teresa Dempsey, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Dr. Aaron and Judy Lloyd, of Seattle, Washington and Ramona and Dr. Stan Kern, of Newberg, Oregon. A special thank you to Hospice Aide, Phyllis Thomas and nurse Shirley Brown and very special friends Dr. Steve and Teddie Metzer and Fran White.

A service to celebrate Lorene’s life will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday at Brockington Road Nazarene Church with Rev. George Prentice officiating and music by Robert Rhodes. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park on Landers Road in Sherwood. Pallbearers will be Curtis Lloyd, Harold Lloyd, Robert Lloyd, Jimmy Hogan, Wayne Campbell, Don Baldwin and Mike Pitts. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170.
