ROBINSON, LORENE GOLDEN Our devoted mother and grandmother, Lorene Golden Robinson, is now walking heaven's streets of gold with her personal Savior, Jesus Christ, into the presence of God. She has been ushered into the company of her beloved husband, Dock, and her precious sister, Dovie, who preceded her in death. Lorene was born in Bowie, Texas, Aug. 17, 1917, and passed to her heavenly reward on July 13, 2004. She chose Baton Rouge as a place to call home after spending many years traveling with her husband in his work with Chicago Bridge & Iron. Her loyalty to Baton Rouge was evident to anyone who knew her. Her desire to stay in her home was important to her, and the family made sure that she was able to do so. Her life's journey was littered with pain and sorrow, but she faced each day with unbounded bravery. In the constant sunshine for her beloved son, George, she found joy in laughter, music and trips to Mississippi. He and his wife have been dedicated to providing a quality of life for her with "dining experiences", rides in her van, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, garage sale shopping, and sharing God's Word with each other. Her beloved son, Mike, and his wife, hosted many a birthday party which she enjoyed to the fullest. Celebrations of birthdays and Christmas were very special to her as she shared that time with her family. Mike's reading of autobiographies and God's Word was a highlight of her week. Her grandsons were loved and taught many of life's lessons in the time they spent with grandma. As children, overnight visits, Fun Fair Park, and rides over the Mississippi River Bridge are memories they will treasure forever. Her teachings by example and word of the importance of good character, honesty and the love of God will always be a part of the life of each family member. She leaves behind a family that was graced to have had her as their Matriarch. Her sons are George W. Robinson Jr. and his wife, Dee, and John Michael Robinson and his wife, Jessica. Grandsons are John Michael Robinson Jr. and his wife, Michelle, Jonas Mark Robinson and his wife, Leigh, and Joel Matthew Robinson and his wife, Jennifer. She was blessed to have seven great-grandchildren, John Michael III, Tyler, Ryan, Jake, Joel, Jessica and Tilley Golden. She loved her niece, Ann Hanna, and her husband, Sidney. Their children, Ben, Mary and Crystal, thought of Lorene as their grandmother and it was Lorene's desire to influence their life with love. Visitation was Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Wednesday, July 14, 2004, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation in the funeral home chapel from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004. The family wishes to express a special thank-you to her physicians, Dr. Jay Hollman, Dr. Stephen Lindsey, Dr. Lalit Barai and Dr. Cheri LeBlanc. A heartfelt thank-you is expressed to her sitters, Joann Langsford, Shirley Bell, Wanda Barber and Louise Sibley. Louise was her lead sitter and her "angel" who showered her with love and grew into the hearts of each family member. The sitters made her last days bearable and she was kept with utmost tender hands. Our mother loved God and never tired of hearing his Word. Her favorite verse was Ecclesiastes 12:13, "Here is my final conclusion: fear God and obey his commandments, for this is the entire duty of man." In her last days, she blessed her family with her singing of "Jesus Loves Me" - a message we know to be true. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 15254 Old Hammond Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.

Hey Grandma,
I miss you more than ever. Jennifer and I are divorced, and my heart is still broken. I wish you were still here, so we could talk. No woman loved me more than you. Everybody is doing well. Mom and Dad are enjoying retirement. Joel just finished his first semester at LSU. Jessica is number 1 in her class at U-High, and Maddie is enjoying 3rd Grade. You would be so proud. I am putting my life back together, but it is still hard. I Love You.

Hey Grandma,
Dad and I bought some property in Liberty together. It is right down the road from Uncle Butch and Aunt Dee. I imagine that you would get a kick out of the fact that we now own property in the country, and it is so close to Uncle Butch. I love you. JMRJR

Grandma,
I was just thinking about you today. My heart still sinks a little bit when I remember that you are gone. Jennifer's Grandma is really ill right now. You might get to meet her soon. I love you so much. I am so glad that I have this place to talk to you.
Your pal,
Matthew

Grandma, I still think about you regularly. I love this picture of you. I need to get one framed to put up at my house. I'll see if Aunt Dee has one that I can copy. JM, Tyler and Ryan are growing up too fast. I try to remind them of stories about you, and me and you together. I love and miss you.
