Lori Anne CARROLL

Obituary

June 17th 1954 to February 24th 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lori Anne Carroll. Lori loved life and was a guiding light to her husband, her children and family and all the friends who knew her. Her creative energy, her upbeat personality and her wonderful sense of humor knew no bounds. She was very intelligent, with a quick wit, and was always the life of the party with her funny "Lori stories". Lori loved gardening and she has changed the landscape of the Cobble Hill village with her wonderful gardens. Lori was also very active in the entertainment business and was the Director and Administrator of Minstrels Conservatory of Music for the past seventeen years. Lori was born in Victoria. She passed away at her home from what she called "an irreversible misfortune" with her mother Irene by her side. She leaves behind her husband Phil Newns, her daughter Kira Carroll, her mother and father Irene and Richard Carroll, sons Andrew and Cameron Izard, her sister Marla Carroll, her step daughter Kim Newns, and many friends whom she loved very dearly. We would like to acknowledge the invaluable support we received from Lori's doctor Dr. Dan Phillipson, and the nurses and caregivers at VIHA and WE CARE. Lori is now at peace but we miss her. A celebration of Lori's life will be held on Saturday, March the 10th in the McNiel Center at Brentwood College from 2 p.m. Lori and Phil created a society many years ago called "Choirs in Concert" to help Special Needs people in the Cowichan Valley. Donations to this "Special" cause in Lori's honor can be sent to Choirs in Concert, Box 144, Cobble Hill, V0R 1L0.

This obituary was originally published in the Cowichan Valley Citizen (Duncan, BC).

Not sure what to say?

Phil, Kira, Andrew and Cameron, Our deepest sympathy and sorrow as we just tonight (Sept. 20th) learned of your loss. Just a few days ago we watched Phil and Kira perform a passionate display of heartfelt songs at Enricho's, and I had no idea of the loss you must have been feeling. Kira, please know that you are an inspiration for both your parents, your mother would be proud of the beautiful performance you gave that day. Lori was such a beautifully vibrant woman, full of life and laughter...
