Lori Kaye
Taylor Deane
Lori Kaye Taylor Deane, 48, of Ruckersville, Virginia, departed this world on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Lori was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, wife, mother and grandmother.
She was born on September 19, 1963, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, to Robert W. Taylor and Grace Peele Taylor Dunne.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Benjamin W. Deane and their daughters, Cryston Redieske and her husband, Chris, Amanda Deane and Jacob Hill, and Rachel Gross. She also leaves her devoted sister, Lisa A. Lanier and her husband, Bill; her niece, Patience Ray and her husband, Daren, and her nephew, Maxwell Lanier and his wife, Amanda; her three grandchildren, Connor and Colin Redieske and Sasha Hill will miss her very much. She also has a large and loving extended family, including her mother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Deane; and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Steve Shifflett, Alvin and Nancy Deane, Emily and Bill Pace, Gary and Tracy Deane, Chris and Teresa Deane and Clara Parrott; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, both in Virginia and North Carolina. Lori's first love was her family but she found great pleasure in many things. She was especially fond of her cats, Whisper and India. She had the classic green thumb and enjoyed nurturing and growing house plants, bulbs and flowers. She was generous to a fault, and loved to give gifts to her family and friends. She was a putterer and could spend hours just fiddling around. She loved to cook and had mastered the fine art of cheese cake baking. She also loved the beach and had spent countless hours of her life beachcombing at Emerald Isle, North Carolina. She loved scary movies and sci fi and owned every episode of Star Trek and X-files.
She was the best hugger in the world - holding us all so tightly and so long. We will miss her tender, sweet, gentle, unobtrusive self and we all look forward to seeing her and being with her again.
She worked at Blue Ridge School in Dyke, Virginia, for the last 25 years and we are certain she was never on time. She made some very dear friends in her time there. A memorial service will be held in her honor, 6 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2012, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Airport Road Building, 1275 Timberwood Boulevard, in Charlottesville. Friends are welcome.
