Lorna Marie Chapman, 53, of Fourth St, Dover, NH died on August 13, 2005 after a courageous struggle with Cancer. She was born in Dover on May 7, 1952 and resided in Dover and Lee, NH. She graduated from Dover High School in 1970, and attended The Gauvin School of Hair Design. She owned and operated the Circle Lee Beauty Shoppe for a number of years, developing a wonderful rapport with her clients, many of whom became friends. She was a warm, gentle, selfless person who cared deeply for those around her. Lorna’s artistic ability was one of the many gifts she shared, along with her ability to be a good listener and to offer gentle support when needed.

She leaves behind her mother, Ruth (Chapman) Lallemand of Somersworth; brother, Leon Chapman and his wife, Carolyn, of Dover; sisters Laurie Smith and her husband, Gregory, and Leslie Alex and her husband, Tony, all of Dover. Her generous spirit made her a wonderful role model for her nieces, Kelsey Smith and Olivia Alex and nephews, Kevin Smith and Isaac Alex, She also leaves a step-brother, Gerard Lallemand of Somersworth.

Lorna was pre-deceased by her father, Leon J. Chapman of Dover and step-father, Joseph (Jerry) Lallemand of Somersworth. She has many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins, and was fortunate to have a close-knit family who offered much love and caring throughout her life The family would like to thank her close friends who helped her in many ways, with a special thank you to her life-long friend, Wendy Morancy Brown for her strength and support in Lorna’s final days. Another close friend, Jackie, described Lorna as “The sweetest, kindest, softest person I’ve ever known.” We all agree.

Not sure what to say?

I am just learning of Lorna's passing today when I came across this site. Lorna and I became friends, when my aunt moved in next door to her family. From that moment on we were inseparable. I fondly remember summers at Wells Beach, when we were teenagers. I knew her family well and send them blessings and prayers. May she rest easy.

Lorna was a giving trusting person who left us too soon.

I was saddened to learn of Lorna's passing. My thoughts & prayers are with the Chapman family. Lorna & I attended High School together and I will always have fond memories of her. God Bless.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Lorna's passing. She was a very good friend in high school. She was a very special person and the kindest, most caring friend one could ask for. My deepest sympathies to her wonderful family and to her many friends.

Our deepest sympathy to the members of the Chapman family. Lorna was a very special friend over many years. My family and I will always remember her gentle smile and calmness. She shared her poems and drawings, and stories about her life, nature and the beauty in others. She will be remembered as a kind person who made the best of everything and thought the world of everyone.
In Sympathy,
Joanne Lewis-McCoy and Steven Lewis, Becky and Jenny, and Merlyne McCoy.

I was so sad to hear that Lorna had passed away. I have many memories of the two of us as little girls spending time at each others homes. She was a special friend that I'll never forget.
My deepest sympathy goes out to all her family and friends.

So sorry to hear about your loss.

I was so very saddened to hear that Lorna had passed on. I will always remember our experiences growing up together with very fond memories.
I wish her family and friends the peace of mind and soul and my deepest sorrow for their loss.
May the precious memories of Lorna be a comfort to you now, and may it help to know that many thoughts are with you in your sorrow. Each life is a miracle that changes the world and leaves it a better place than it was before. Lorna touched many...

I knew Lorna as one of her customers in Lee. We kept running into each other through the years and play catch-up. The last time we talked was at BK before I moved to FL. Although no words of sympathy can ease the loss you bear, still may you find some comfort in the thought that others care............She is now at peace. God is getting one of the best.
