Lorna Glastra Obituary
Lorna V. Glastra (nee Hjelle) was born December 16, 1921, on a homestead near the village of Monitor, Alberta. She passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on October 14, 2016.
She was the youngest child of Sigurd W. and Jane Likness Hjelle. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Arnold & Lester, and her husband Jacob (Jack) Glastra. She is survived by sons Jon and Peter, grandchildren Jacob, Emily, Laura, Joshua, and Jazz, and one great-granddaughter, Annika.
Lorna immigrated with her family to Decorah, IA in 1930. She attended Luther College during the 1940-'41 academic year, then started nursing school in the fall of 1941 at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis.
She moved to the Puget Sound region in late 1944. She worked as office nurse for psychiatrist Dr. Ralph Stolzheise and prominent Seattle urologist Dr. Dean Parker. She briefly worked for long-time North Seattle pediatrician Dr. James Tucker.
Lorna and Jack were charter members of NORTHLAKE LUTHERAN CHURCH in Kenmore, WA. A memorial service in her memory will be held there at 2:00 PM on Friday, Nov. 11th, 2016.
Lorna's life was focused on service to God, her family and church community.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Marjorie Bly Memorial Fund at Northlake Lutheran Church, Kenmore, WA.

Dear Jon & Peter
So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother Lorna Glastra, she was such a smart, funny, welcoming, genuine woman who was so giving, I loved her a lot and have so many fond memories from years ago. She and your Dad were very special and I thank you for sharing them with me.
May all of your special memories carry you through this time until we are all united again in heaven for eternity, prayers to you and your families~

Dear Jon, Peter and family,
We would like to express our deepest condolences to you for the loss of your mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
We are very thankful that we had the privilege to know her and that we had the opportunity to meet her several times in the Netherlands and in Seattle.
Aunt Lorna made our trip to Seattle in the early nineties unforgettable; we loved her warmth, hospitality, intelligence and her special sense of humor.
And above all, we'll never forget her deep love for our Uncle Jack.
We will never forget our Aunt Lorna, our Mater Familias.
Tante Lorna, a true inspiration to us all.
