OPATOW--Lorna, pioneering businesswoman in market research, packaging and design, died on Wednesday, December 24th in New York City after a brief illness. Lorna earned a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1952, where she attended the Wharton School of Business, although Wharton did not...

Dear David, I worked for you and Lorna a very long time ago. She always called me the 'new kid on the block.' One of my fondest memories of her was a day that I had to go into her office to do some filing, and she said to me, 'You know what i like about you kid...that you're not intimidated by me. Everyone else is afraid to walk into my office.' I smiled and asked, 'Should i be?' And she responded, 'Never. Always remember that no matter what title a person holds, they are just people.' I've...

I remember Lorna as a pleasant and efficient part of the Daniele Agostino Foundation. In many visits with Flavia & Marshall Robinson her presence added to the positive experience. Deepest sympathies to her friends and loved ones.

To the Opatow family I have some sense of what a loss this must be for you, because she always spoke with such warmth and interest about her family, especially her nieces and nephews. I've known Lorna for many years, though recently we lost touch because I marrried and am spending much of my time on the West Coast. She was such a great person-- so thoughtful and caring, totally down to earth ,with a dry sense of humor. We initially knew each through the profession-- we were both...

While i did not know Lorna as well as many who have signed the guestbook, Lorna and I had a short but intimate friendship. We met in a unique (we called it "elite") club called the President's Club - not to be confused with YPO - and you didn't have to be a millionaire under 40. Art Stevens, a PR pro. had set up this club so presidents of small businesses (such as my film and video company, his PR business, Lorna's research company) could discuss mutual problems and try and offer each other...

To all of Lorna's family whom she loved so much, I extend to you my heartfelt sympathy.
I consider Lorna to be the most selfless person I have ever known. She had an uncanny ability to discern whenever an acquaintance, a close friend, or a family member needed her help or her support and she always offered it - without regard to cost, her own inconvenience, or discomfort. I was the recipient of this selflessness in innumerable ways over the past 38 years of our...

Lorna was a mentor and a friend to me. After serving on the Boards of the New York American Marketing Association and the Advertising Research Foundation together, we started to socialize--mainly attending the varied musical programs that she enjoyed so much. We were going to see an opera at the Manhattan School of Music on December 14. But Lorna never appeared. Ten days later she was gone. I cannot imagine ever going to another concert without thinking of Lorna and missing her. MGS
