Not sure what to say?

Lorna and I were in the MLS program at Case Western University. We met again when she worked at Ohio University Athens. We would meet with another friend for social activities. She helped me find an apartment in Fairborn where she had previously worked. I visited her in Buffalo in the 1990s. We visited a speciality bookstore and the Falls.

Sadly I just discovered that my long-time friend and former Case Western Reserve University classmate Lorna Peterson passed away in November 2024. I'm shocked and very sad. My condolences to her family, especially her mother. I remember Lorna as a loving daughter. She was dedicated to her community and the discipline of Librarinship. I will miss her friendship.

Lorna you are an angel with your parents in heaven. You fought the good fight, ran the race and have your crown. Your friends and colleagues miss you. Marsha.

Lorna and I worked together at UB, (well "together" may not be the best term for it). As her dean for a handful of years we often disagreed, but her views were always welcomed and I knew I could trust her to say what she felt (not always something a dean can expect ). We stayed in touch after my departure - and her retirement and had a wonderful dinner with her the last time Char and I were in Buffalo. Since then we exchanged emails often; her last one to me said she was in hospice care...

Lorna, started her teaching career teaching Research Methods for undergraduates at Iowa State University. She was dedicated to her students and to getting her colleagues involved in research relating to freshman/undergraduate research skills. For me she was the fire that got me interested in research and ALA and getting a library degree---truly lighting the fire that got me going!!!

I met Dr. Lorna Peterson when I was in library school thirty years ago. She was very supportive of student engagement within the department. I was saddened to find out she had recently passed. I will miss her yearly holiday cards and our occasional outing, which I dubbed chat-and-chew. Dr. Peterson got such a laugh out of that. The chat-and-chews were mini-librarian conferences. Our chat and chew conference topics ranged from the deficiencies in the city´s public services and the lack of...

Lorna was a dedicated Library Educator. I always enjoyed her cherry notes and cards over the years. As we always communicated via snail mail. I will miss her friendship and wisdom. Joyce C. Wright Professor Emerita University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign

Lorna was an inspiration as a self-realized person who knew what she wanted to do and did it. In the library world, the preservation world, and the interracial community world, she was a presence. We had a common interest in public transportation and also worked together on sidewalk snow removal. She will be missed, by me and many others.
