Dan & Jan
What a wonderful memorial service you put on for our Uncle Lorne. He would have been very proud of you. We are so glad that we were able to share that day with you and your families.
Your dad was one of the 'good guys' and will be missed by many.
Randy, Darlene, Sasha & Dylan

I remember sitting on Jan's balcony shooting the breeze after having "driven" over to visit and you suddenly popping by to just drop off something after "riding" up to Dunbar from the shop. You in your "70's", putting us young and not so young ones to shame. May your endurance and brilliance live on in the legacy you have left behind.

Lorne took me to the top of the then unfinished Empire Games track and back in 1954. What a thrill for a 14 year old boy. I've never forgotten it. He was always smiling and easy to talk to and offered many words of wisdom and advice. I'll miss him and never forget him. Evie, hope your memories will help through these sad and difficult days. Keep on riding,Lorne

I'll never forget Ace was the only one who would let us crazy kids have a place to "rock n' roll" !!!
He was so cool. My sincerest condolences to the Atkinson Family and Loved Ones. May his memory be eternal.

My second year of bike racing was in 1973, after I'd moved to Vancouver from Northern California. Lorne was one of the few older cyclists who gave good advice and encouragement, probably because he was a native Vancouverite, rather than a transplant from "the old country." It was a different culture back then, but Lorne recognized that the long-term future of cycling centered on inclusion, not exclusion from some clique. It was guys like Lorne who really built and developed the sport in BC.

It was a pleasure knowing you, despite not seeing you often.

Remember Ace helping my set up my first road bike 5 years ago and I pedaled away one happy cyclist.

"Ace" was a real treat to spend time with

I remember the first time Lorne got me into racing in 1959, he was always at our races at the start and finish. My first race i won thanks to lorne. Also my rides with him and his warm smile and his stories when ever i entered his store. Ride on Lorne.

I remember when I was staying in Jan's room while she was oversea's and I got home a little late. I rang the doorbell to get in and you leaned over the balcony and said"We're closed"!Thankyou for your humour, your smile and for all the ways you enriched the lives of everyone around you.
