Not sure what to say?

Although we only knew her for a short few years in the special setting of a monthly church meal it was truly rewarding to visit and talk with her on a regular basis. She was very intelligent and informed on a wide variety of subjects. We very much liked her charm and class and are sad that we no longer will be able to enjoy her company at the meals. Karen~My FOUND Junior High School buddy! What a LIFE your mom had. Although I didn't know her, we should all be so lucky to have the family and friends she did. I know I'll see you soon! ~Jodeen

I grew up on Elizabeth Drive and will always have fond memories of the Ballances, Hoyts, and Checchinis.
Lorraine was like a second Mom like Gaby was to me. My send my condolences to Karen, Kurt, and Chris, and all who knew what a SWEET LADY she was.

Chris, Karen and Kurt - I have so enjoyed your mother over the many years I have known her - and felt as though I was going through those final years with Karen and Kurt - via emails with Karen. I will miss your mother. I especially enjoyed her visit to my home here in Carmel, and was hoping for another visit. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sue Shield

When..."Mrs. Balance" (every one older than we were always had the Mr. or Mrs. no matter how old I got, my Dad's thumb is heavy..lol) moved on to Elizabeth Dr. ...I was like..3rd grade..Karen and I became friends and no matter the amount of years that have past, it always seems like just yesterday. Actually when ever I play a game of Clue..I always think of the family. She was a.. Foxy Lady...what a joy...I'll miss you.
Cris...I'm sorry I didn't know you were in town. I know Jim would...

I've known Lorraine since I was a little girl. She was a close friend with my Grandma (Gabby Hoyt) and her oldest son, Chris, has been a lifelong friend of my Dad, Pat Hoyt. She lived down the street from my Grandparents in Ventura so we spent a lot of time with her. She was like a Grandmother to me and I will forever miss her. I am thankful for the time I spent with her but I regret not seeing her before she passed away. She was a wonderful, caring and loving person.

I met Lorraine in January of 2001. She and her two children, Karen and Kurt, have become treasured friends. I call them my "California Family". I live in Colorado and every summer I looked forward to going to Ventura. I knew there would be many adventures such as going to Lorraine's favorite restaurants as well as going to new ones. A favorite was a place called Mussel Shoals, that was right on the oceanside. We also had adventures traveling to cities like San Diego and San Francisco to...
