Peppler Funeral Home - Allentown Obituary

Lorraine Oakerson Bullock, 89, of Cream Ridge passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Hornerstown, NJ, Lorraine married Edward Bullock and moved to his family farm in Cream Ridge. During WWII, Lorraine worked at DeLaval as a tool runner. She was also a bookkeeper at Fort Dix before becoming a stay at home farm wife and mother. When her children were school aged, she began a 23 year career as a school bus driver for Upper Freehold Twp. schools. She loved her time with her "bus kids". Lorraine enjoyed traveling and visited many foreign countries as well as countless trips within the United States. After retiring, she volunteered at Meals-on-Wheels, Deborah Hospital and at a VNA thrift shop. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time and creating memories with her family.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Edward, her parents, and her three sisters. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Marty and Janet Bullock, Rick and Linda Bullock, Kelly and Mary Bullock, and daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Haver; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 11am on Thursday, December 4th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in Cream Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals-on-Wheels, Interfaith Neighbors Inc., 810 Fourth Ave., Asbury Park, NJ 07712 or to Friends of the Old Yellow Meeting House, PO Box 23, Cream Ridge, NJ 08514.

Not sure what to say?

The last of the great Hornerstown Ladies. Hopefully Lorraine & Aunt Eva are together again - they were a pair. Aunt Eva liked to tell us about their escapades thru the years.

May the God of all comfort be with you
and your family at this difficult time.
May the love and support from family
and friends be a source of strength
and encouragement at this your hour
of sorrow.

Some of my fondest memories as a child where visiting your farm with my parents in the 1950's and early 60's. Our mothers met while working at Fort Dix. My father was raised on a farm in Georgia and took to your dad right away. My father died suddenly in 1964 and my mother's visits to see your mom slowly went by the wayside. I remember your grandmother and her allowing us to climb the steps to her part of the house. My mother will turn 90 in April, God willing, and is living in Florida not...

My sympathy to Lorraine's family. I know we were related...way back...
God bless you all at this sad time.
