Not sure what to say?

Pedestrians in Australia are sometimes blessed with a sign that says, "Refuge Island." It is an area in the middle of a busy road that allows us to cross half the road and then stand in the centre until it is safe to cross the second half. Aunt Lorraine was my refuge island most summers of my childhood when my mother took me and my sisters to her house. Compared to the tough, high-altitude desert that I was accustomed to, the lush and generous landscape offered soft pine needles,...

The Heller family was so close to my family (the McMimmy´s) I thought they were my cousins for the longest time. I have so many fond memories from 8600 SW Leahy Rd with my siblings & the Heller kids. But my most cherished memory of Lorraine was as a young mother in the early 80´s when she included me vicariously in her Beyond War walk across country. Lorraine was such a force of love and integrity. Her nightly dinners and kindness to a sometimes annoying ADHD kid made a big difference in my childhood. . Love you and thank you, Aunt Lorraine. Love to you all

Our mom, Marjorie, was lucky to have found Lorraine in Hillsboro in the early sixties, and my sisters and I were blessed to grow up in the liberal, intellectual, nature-loving "village" she helped create. Multi-family backpacking trips are among my top memories. I thank Lorraine for her love and for her never-ceasing sense of adventure.

Lorraine Heller was in my life from the time that our family took a bus trip to Mexico with families from West Hills Unitarian Fellowship. My sister met her son Jonathan on that trip unbeknownst to her at the time, Lorraine was to become her Mother in law and Jon her husband. Lorraine was such a giving, loving , person , quick to laugh , serious by nature and very devoted to her faith, her family and her causes. She was a person who you could talk to about anything and know that she would...

I have fond memories of hikes long ago with our families. When I saw Lorraine off and on through out the years she always had a smile and was happy and eager to catch up. Thoughts are with you all.
