Colonial Funeral Homes - Brick Obituary

Lorraine Karen Henry passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 15, 2025. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and loyal friend who always brought much laughter into the lives of many.

Born on January 19, 1950, Lorraine grew up in Green Pond, NJ. She enjoyed a childhood spending time outdoors, especially ice skating, and creating fond memories with her family at Green Pond Lake. She graduated from Morris Catholic High School in 1968.

Lorraine graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Trenton State College in 1972. Dedicating her professional life to education, she touched the hearts and minds of many students by encouraging creativity and curiosity. Her career involved many roles in education, including Director of St. Mary’s Nursery School and elementary school teacher at South Amboy Public School in South Amboy, NJ.

While living in South Amboy, she enjoyed her summers at Frog Hollow Swim Club with her friends and family. You could often find her sharing long conversations over a good meal and a glass of White Zinfandel with ice on the side. She especially loved the holidays and decorating her Christmas tree with ornaments from her favorite artist, Norman Rockwell.

Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Kristen (Daniel) and Erin (RJ), her son, Fred (Anny), granddaughter, Elise, and her brothers, Kenneth and Kevin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eleanor and Bernard, and her brothers, Thomas and Bernard, Jr.

A private celebration of life will be held in the future to remember Lorraine. This intimate gathering will be a time for close family and friends to reflect on the love she brought into our lives.

For those wishing to honor Lorraine’s memory, please consider donating to Johns Hopkins Myositis Center

I knew Lorraine for many years in Green Pond. She was my sister-in-law as I was married to Bernie. We had lots of laughs and great times in Green Pond. She had a great sense of humor. So sorry for the families loss. May all the great memories you have, bring you peace

Lorraine was a wonderful person. I will miss her laugh.
She has been and will continue to be in my prayers.

To my former students, Kristen, Erin and Fred, please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your mother. Teaching with your mother was always pleasant. She and I shared a lot of good times and laughter together at school. May she rest in peace.
Sincerely, Patricia Deverin
