Lorraine Ruthenberg-Merkler

Lorraine Ruthenberg-Merkler, longtime resident of Macomb County, died peacefully Saturday evening in St. John Hospital of Detroit. She was 81 years of age.

Lorraine was born in Detroit on October 23, 1925, daughter of the late Richard and Martha (Bruchard) Ruthenberg. She was united in marriage to John Merkler on October 18, 1945 in Detroit. The couple made their home in Detroit until moving to the Macomb County area in 1973. Lorraine was a member of the VFW, Bruce Post, since 1977. She was always up to date with all the modern political issues and was concern with our environment. Lorraine was a dedicated wife and mother who always kept an immaculate home. She will be dearly missed by the many she has touched in her lifetime.

Lorraine is survived by her loving children, Mathias John (Morna), John Fredrick (Julie), and Karen O’Brien; and her cherished Grandson, John Matthew. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1977; siblings, Orville, Clarence, Edwin, Lester, George, Dick, Walter, Fredrick Marvin, Dorothy, Millicent, Violet, and Bernice; grandsons, Kurt Alan and Michael John, and son-in-law, Robert O’Brien.
