GATE CITY, VA – LOUEY R. BARNETTE, AGE 87


Louey R. Barnette, age 87 of Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2025 while in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Clinchport, VA on April 16, 1938 to the late Maude Bishop Barnette and James Elmer Barnette. Louey was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church and was a talented “Handy Man” who was a very loving husband and father.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Barnette; brother, James Elmer Barnette, Jr.; sisters, Irene Barnette and Patsy Jones.


Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost 50 years, Sharon E, Barnette; daughter, Kim; sons, Ronnie Brown and Ty Barnette; granddaughter, Faith Inscore; sister, Kathy Coleman; and nephew, Kenny Hill.


The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home. Service will begin at 7 PM with Bro. Barry Epps and Bro. Donald Tatum officiating. Eulogies will be given by his son, Ty Barnette and granddaughter, Faith Inscore. Music will be provided by Bro. Barry Epps and Bro. Donald Tatum.


A graveside service will be held at Noon on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at West End Baptist Church Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
