Not sure what to say?

To Louis's daughter and grandchildren, Just hearing about your father, I'm so sorry. My family and I send our condolences to you still. He was a great man. Love, Sharon (Taylor) Johnson (850 418 7776).

I loved Louis Aikens as a mentor and as a very good friend. I was a new teacher at Severance Milliken and he taught me many life lessons. I thought about him often in the years after Millken. May you find comfort and peace in his beloved memories. Alice Buchman

I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Dr. Louis Aikens. I grew up in Chagrin Falls Park in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Dr. Aikens was the principal at Chagrin Falls Park Elementary School, which was part of the Kenston Local School District in Bainbridge Ohio. CFP Elementary School served as the elementary school for African American residents of Chagrin Falls Park. It was segregated from the other white elementary students in the Kenston School District. There...

"Blue" could walk into a room and instantly make friends. He was a fascinating raconteur and had the best sense of humor. Will miss his infectious grin and the way he always stepped in where needed.

I am very sad to learn about the passing of Dr. Aikens; truly a man who remained in my heart as a very special adult who touched my life as a child! I have never forgotten him nor the way in which he provided ever lasting impressions on me. When he first came to Severance Millikin Elementary School, he was a very popular, 6th grade teacher. I remember thinking, gosh I hope I get him for my teacher when I am in 6th grade. Immediately after his first year, he became our beloved principal, and...

Dr. Aiken's was a great role model, principal of MiIlikin Elementary School and a kind and warm human being. I have many great memories and I had many interactions with Mr. Aiken's, as I knew him then, while sitting on the bench in the school office for some of many infractions. He never made me feel less for the problems I caused and always showed me his humanity, warmth, character, care and concern. May he rest in peace and may his family be comforted with the fact that he lived a good...

The memories that come to mind all seem to involve cars and music. The night my younger brother David, my Mom Helen and myself were riding in his Lincoln Mark 3. "Put it where you want it" by the Crusaders was playing on the radio. Every now and again Uncle Louis would start to bob his head and the hat he was wearing kind of bounced. David and I began to laugh hysterically!

I remember him playing the song " Alone again naturally" by Gilbert O'Sullivan and Uncle Louis saying how...

So very sad to hear about Dr. Aikens passing. Like many leaving condolences here, I was a ten year old when he came to be the principal at Milliken; without exception, everyone loved him and as an educator and leader, he enriched and changed our lives. Many many years later, as adults, Laurel Yulish and I ran into him at the airport and practically knocked him over in our enthusiasm to see him again. And he remembered us. That's who he was. A really remarkable man.
