To my father-in-law, Lou

I just wanted to say I will always remember you, and several things you told me. You said to make sure I always take care of your daughter, and I've tried to every day of our marriage. Your daughter is a lot like you in several ways. I call her "Little Louie" as she always reminds me of your quest for excellence in doing work. I remember the 1st time I met you, you got out of your black Cadillac, wearing a black leather coat, smoking a cigarette. I turned to...

To my father, Lou

The finality and depth of loss has hit me today. Although your illness was a long goodbye for us, I remember many special moments.

You walking me down the aisle on my wedding day, both of us so nervous, I jokingly asked why you were scared - this time it wasn’t you on the line! You replied you only wanted me to be happy with Michael. You were right about Michael being a great guy- I still adore him after 30 years.

Or the time you snuck our kitten...
