Louis J. Deegan, Jr. passed away Sunday morning February 19, 2023 in the Collier Hospice Center after a battle with colon cancer. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland May 21, 1932, the son of Edna and Louis Deegan.
Louis served in the Coast Guard in the 1950’s. From 1954 - 1962 he was a Systems Programmer at Univac (now UNISIS). 1962 - 1971 MCS Senior Manager, Price Waterhouse in Chicago, New York and Baltimore. 1971 - 1981 Director of MIS, the Maryland State Colleges Information Center. 1981 - 1984 Corporate Director, Information Systems at American Quasar Inc. in Ft. Worth TX. 1984 - 1992 Director of Information Systems, Total Petroleum in Denver where he traveled many times to the parent company that was located in Paris, France.
He was a great storyteller of his many fantastic life experiences including his sailing days, his brushes with famous people like Duke Ellington, Ann Bancroft and Elvis, and his travels to Ireland, Italy, France, England, Germany, Czechoslovakia and Mexico. Louis was an avid photographer, bicyclist, skier, golfer and Baltimore Orioles fan. He enjoyed a great love of music that began as a young drummer in a jazz combo in Baltimore. He was an active appreciator of many music genres including classical. He often attended the Colorado Symphony, Opera Colorado and the Central City Opera.
Louis is survived by Carolyn Harrison, his partner of 28 years, his sister, Elaine Burlage (John), nieces Lisa Gothier (Bob), Jackie Munchel (Jeff, Christopher, and Lauren), Peggy Cole (Pete) and sister in law Jan Minar.
Louis, we hope wherever you are the sky is clear, the winds are strong and the waters calm. He will be missed by his many friends and family.
