Mr Desmet was my principal in late 60s and early 70s. In fifth grade I spent a lot of time with him after being sent to the office. He told my parents that someday I would be a lawyer. I became one. He always was fair and kind. I have warm memories of him and my sympathy to his family.

My condolences. I just found out about Mr. Desmet. He was my principal at Ridge Lawn Elementary. I have few vivid memories of my elem school teachers and principals, but Mr. Desemet was high on that list of happy memories as a child. May God comfort his family, and may he rest in the peace and love of God arms.

To his family, how many ex-principals get all these accolades from former...

I am so sorry for your loss. Though I was not a frequent visitor to his office for "clock time," he still new my name and everyone else's. Part of the reason I became a teacher was because of the many great teachers at Finley who influenced me, I know now as a teacher, that it takes a great leader to make great teachers. I hope you will find solice and peace and know that your loved one touched and influenced many.
