Mr Ivens was my favorite teacher hands down. I was in class 246. I’m sorry I am just seeing this. He was the only teacher who could get a teenager excited about algebra at 8:30 am by saying “get strong”

So sad to hear of Lou's passing. As one of my father Si's closest friends, I enjoyed his company, especially our friendly ping pong rivalry in my father's basement. I know my father will miss him terribly. My thoughts and prayers go out to Ethel and the rest of Lou's family.

As a member of the 242nd class of Central, Mr. Ivens was my Algebra 2 Honors teacher. 15 years later, I returned to Central and taught in the same room 145! He was a fun, enthusiastic, and challenging teacher. His passion for his profession was outstanding! Best wishes to the Ivens family at this time.

As a member of the 235th class at Central, l had Mr. Ivens as my Algebrs 2 teacher. I had a lot of trouble with Algebra 2. Mr Ivens took extra time with me to make sure I got it. Boy did I get it. Moved up to a B thanks to him. Years later, I was managing a store in Abington, when i noticed a man speaking with one of my sales people. Soon as I heard his voice, I knew who it was. I got that scared to death feeling. He remembered me fondly. We had a great chat. He was a great teacher, sometimes...

I am so sorry to hear of Lou's passing. I taught with Lou at Overbrook High School and at Central High School. He was always cheerful and positive. I pray that Lou's wife, family and friends will find comfort in their wonderful memories of Lou.
