Kubler, Louis K. "Lou"

82, of Belleair Beach, Florida, passed away on October 23, 2025. A proud Marine, devoted teacher, and passionate public servant, Lou lived a life defined by duty, courage, loyalty, and love for family and community.

Born on September 21, 1943, in Hackensack, New Jersey, Lou was the only child of Louis B. and Norma (Booth) Kubler, both predeceased. He moved to St. Petersburg at age 13 and called the area home for nearly seven decades.

Lou served 21 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and serving in Vietnam. The Marine Corps was central to his identity and guided his life of service and leadership.

After his military career, Lou joined the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office as a deputy, remaining involved for decades through special projects. He earned his Business Education degree from the University of South Florida, where he was one of the first student body presidents of the Bayboro campus. Lou then taught cooperative education programs (DECA and DCT) at Osceola and St. Petersburg High Schools, helping students gain real-world experience while completing their studies.

Deeply engaged in civic and political life, Lou led the Pinellas County Teachers' Union (1979–81), served as president of the Suncoast Tiger Bay Club (2000), chaired the St. Petersburg Planning Commission, and held a gubernatorial appointment to the Florida delegation for the Reagan inauguration.

He is survived by his partner of 36 years, Audrey Greenberg; former wife, Carol Kubler; sons, Louis "Bucky" (Susan) and Ken "Scott" (Lisa); grandchildren, Kenny, Amber, Daniel (Kayla), Cherie; great-grandchildren, Kinleigh, Alexander, Olivia; and his bonus family, Dave, Scott, Joyce Liu, Nina, and Nigel Greenberg.
