LANE, Louis Henry "Bubba," 62, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, departed this life Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Bubba unconditionally loved his wife of 40 years, JoAnn; three children, Rian (Betsey), Jeffrey (Angie) and Casey; grandchildren, Gehrig and Camden; sisters, Linda Birdsong (Birdie), Betty Barker (Sonny); along with many adoring aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished, caring friends. Bubba was always fun and full of laughter. He enjoyed music and played drums in local bands for many years. Also, he was remembered as a Little League baseball coach but, most importantly, as a loving husband, father and grandfather, who attended every one of his children's sports events and births of his grandchildren. Bubba will be greatly missed by his family and all those who were fortunate to know him. Family and friends were extremely important to Bubba, and during his illness he received visits almost every day. The family would like to thank all who stopped by to show their love and words of encouragement. Also, Bubba's family wishes to thank the staff at V.C.I. and Memorial Hospital for their devotion and wonderful care. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 25 and Thursday, July 26 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 27. Following the service, Bubba will be laid to rest beside his parents at Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, Tenn. 38105 (www.stjude.org/donation).

Not sure what to say?

JoAnn

I just found out by way of your Christmas card of the passing of Bubba.
I am so sorry I was not their to pay my respects. I always thought of him as a brother even though we had not seen each other in years I thought of him often. Please let everyone in the family know my thoughts and prayers are with them.
I have many fond memories of growing up with him in Oak hill.

JoAnn,
So sorry to read about Bubba's death. He will be missed. I imagine that his loss is too recent and painful right now. But over time, the good memories of a life well-lived will begin to fill the void left by his passing. My condolences to you and your family.

Betty & Linda

Grew up two doors from Bubba but haven't seen him in many years. It sounds like he was a lucky guy and had a great life & family. Very sorry to hear of your loss.

To Betty, Linda and the rest of the family - I know how much you will all miss Bubba and how special he was to each one of you.
