SPRINGFIELD - Louis F. Morin 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 17, 2022, surrounded by family at Mercy Medical Center after living a full and healthy life. Lou was born in Chicopee, MA, the fifth of seven children to the late Albert Morin and A. Aline (Pothier) Morin. A 1947 graduate of Chicopee High School, Lou was a natural athlete. His football coach arranged a try-out that led to an appointment to the United States Military Academy following a post-graduate year at Suffield Academy. At West Point, he played the two sports he followed for the rest of his life, football and boxing. Graduating in 1952, he served with pride in the Korean War then left the Army to work in industry. A keen inventor, in 1965 he began manufacturing Teflon hose in his parents’ garage and founded Everflex Products. He then ran his other business, Wireland Products, until he retired in 1997. He leaves family and friends with much love, and cherished memories of his wit and humor, fragranced by his cigars. Lou is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores, and their four daughters Annmarie Morin of Florida, Dr. Merribeth Morin and her husband BG John Driscoll of Springfield, Dr. Celeste Ste. Claire of New Jersey, and Michelle Reed of Enfield, who gave Lou his two beloved grandchildren, Christopher and Chloé Reed. Lou was predeceased by five of his siblings, Edward Morin, Jeannette Forgue, Robert Morin, Raymond Morin, and Lucille Morin. He is survived by his brother Thomas Morin and his wife Elaine, and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Friday, January 21, 2022 from 4-7p.m. at Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee, MA. Lou’s funeral Mass will be held at 10:30a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 94 Springfield St., Chicopee. He will be buried with Military Honors following the Mass.
