When I was Chief Engineer of the Tyrone mine, loved it when Lou would drop by to talk. He had a huge storage of memories of the early years of mining in the Tyrone area, lots of memories of the restart (1967) and activities in the area. He had a collection of artifacts, like underground miner ID tags, and the story and details behind it. I knew Lou fairly well as we would interact at the Tyrone mine when I was there. He offered insights and advice as freely as he did stories. He was a great small miner, regularly won the hand drilling contests, and was a good friend.
