My heart goes out to Dr. Pecek's friends and family.I was just thinking of Dr. Pecek today and googled his name to find that funeral mass has just concluded (12:18 pm on Nov. 1). I remember him as a teacher as if it were yesterday: I was a graduate student in English at John Carroll University in the 1980s. He had high standards but so much personal warmth and wit -- we could not help but work our hardest. I am so sorry to learn of his passing.

Deacon and Dr. Pecek was a tremendous human being. In addition to his scholastic achievements and leadership at John Carroll University, he was a gentle servant of God, serving in the Deaconate in the Diocese of Cleveland. I was blessed to know him during his time as Deacon at the former St.Paul's Catholic Church in Euclid, Ohio, which has since been closed. He was always proud of his Slovene heritage, as well, and, despite his many achievements, displayed a humility and kindness of spirit...

He was a great friend to my parents, Tom & Elizabeth, for which I am eternally grateful. Mark Pestak

Our sincere sympathy to the Pecek family. I had the honor of knowing Deacon Pecek at St. Paul Parish and it was always a pleasure talking with him. I was a lector and he was always so helpful. He was a kind and gentle person ... may he Rest In Peace.

Mary Ann and family: So sorry to hear the news. Lou was a wonderful gentleman teaching me the ins and outs of local dining in CLE. He's the reason Kathy and I came to Cleveland. My prayers for Lou and all.

Lou was a scholar and a fine gentleman.
I served with him on the John Carroll administration and always appreciated his pleasant demeanor, sense of humor, and all-around good sense. Kay and I extend our condolences to Mary Anne and her family. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.

Our dear, dear friend and advisor for music and liturgy at St. Paul.
