Louis Renevitz

The name Lou Renevitz is synonymous with my earliest memories of SDSU, where my father, Lars Hellberg, taught chemistry and where he and Mr. Renevitz were friends. Such a lovely family. It was my sincere pleasure to work with Lou during the first years of my career here at San Diego State University. He always stood out to me here at the library for his unique blend of approachability with dapper attire; a very unique contrast in the very laid-back, casual '80s environment that was Malcolm Love Library at that time!

Lou had a wonderful voice that practically invited conversations!

Though I doubt that he knew me by name, for so many years I knew Lou as that pleasant and dutiful gentleman in Love Library. My condolences to his loved ones.

Sorry to hear about Lou. Although we have not seen him or Helen for many years, we have fond memories of him. I, Chuck, particularly remember the "gang of four (started as five with Fred)" at SDSU who met for breaks and lunch (Walter, Neil, Lou and me).

It is with deep sadness that the family of Louis Renevitz announces his passing after a prolonged battle with cancer on February 14th, 2018, just shy of his 87th birthday. Louis passed in his sleep in the Del Mar Highlands community of San Diego, CA. He was born to Andrew and Anna Renevitz, immigrants from Austria-Hungary, on February 16, 1931.

Louis will be fondly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Helen and his children, Peter and Karen. He was preceded by his son Kenneth Andy....
