Not sure what to say?

I knew I had to take Spitz's class in order to graduate and I dreaded it terribly. How pleasantly surprised I was to find the course one of the best I have ever taken. The news of his death greatly shocked and saddened me, and I express all my sentiments to his loved ones.

I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND MY DEEPEST APPRECIATION, BOTH ON THE BEHALF OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY, ESPECIALLY THAT OF MY GRANDMOTHER'S (MR. SPITZNAGEL'S MOTHER) TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO POST YOUR SENTIMENTS ABOUT MY UNCLE AND THE IMPACT HE MADE ON YOUR LIVES. THIS IS A VERY DIFFICULT TIME FOR ALL OF US, ESPECIALLY SINCE HIS PASSING WAS SO UNEXPECTED. YOUR THOUGHTS, THOUGH ARE VERY HELPFUL TO US ALL. IT FILLS MY HEART WITH JOY, AT A TIME WHEN THERE SEEMS TO BE SO LITTLE TO BE HAPPY...

My deepest sympathies to the family of Mr. Spitznagel. He was a wonderful teacher who challenged and pushed us to our limits. His classes were extremely difficult, yet extremely enjoyable, and Spitz was never short on humor. A senior here at Xavier University, his alma mader, I can say that he is remembered and prayed for throughout this Xavier community.

My deepest sympathies go out to the family of Mr. Spitznagel. He, along with Mr. Galla, and a friend, George Beranek, urged me to join the chess club where friends were made and my mind was challenged. Seemed liked something trivial then, but I now understand---all good things learned do not necessarily come from a book or a classroom. I am a fuller and better person for having had Spitz as a teacher.

Mr. Spitznagel was one of the first teachers who taught me to genuinely think instead of blindly memorize. By the end of class, I almost always had a broader view of the world than I had before. Who can ever forget him?

Mr.Spitznagel was a tough man at first. But then you got to see who he truly was, Caring and Compassionate and wanted us to learn. He was good man and will be missed.

I would like to offer my prayers and sympathy to the family of Mr. Spitznagel. He was a great teacher and will forever be remembered as a "Fenwick Legend."

Spitz was one of the most intriguing and motivated teachers I've had to date. He made learning enjoyable and kept us laughing along the way. Fenwick won't be quite the same without him.

I am going to miss Mr. Spitznagel. Part of going to Fenwick was having him for class. He always challenged us to think differently, and as tough as it would seem at the time, Im very glad he did.
