Not sure what to say?

When I retired 13 years ago, Lee Henderson invited me to join his Monday a.m. golf group at the CB base at Port Hueneme; which included Lou, Jim Daniels, Paul Sturm, and Clyde Taylor. You learn alot about character on the golf course. What great group of guys to play with. Lou was a wonderful role model; his integrity, love of family and his country was so evident. It certainly was an honor to have known Lou. Mike Kroll

Lou Van was a splendid man, of great intellect and big heart.I had the pleasure of serving with him in various organizations, and Louis served on the USS Norton Sound with him, as well as in the Oxnard Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club. Our loving sympathy goes to his children and other loved ones on their loss.

Commander Vann was a fine officer & it was an honor to serve with him. He will be greatly missed by all his shipmates. May fair winds & following seas ease your journey.

CDR, FAIR SAILING AND SMOOTH WATERS AHEAD.

The Vann Family was a true fixture on Sixth Place. We will miss meeting Lou at our usual spot...the commissary aisle. A true gentleman. Our thoughts are with his family at this time. Bill and Marge Reitz, Port Hueneme

My sincerest condolences.

We were so sad and surprised to learn of Lou's passing. We were friends for many years as part of the Happy Rovers camping group. We had many fun trips and a few interesting golf outings. A fine man that will be missed. Jack and Lee O'Donnell

We were so incredibly sad to learn of Mr. Vann's passing. It seems I've known him most of my life as he served on the Norton Sound with my Dad in the late 50's. Our deepest sympathy to you Lennie and to the girls. My girls grew up thinking of him as another Grandpa. We will miss seeing him at the Shriner dinners. If there is ever anything we can do, please contact us. Love and Prayers Kavin and Jenny DeWitt
