I knew her via her room mate when she attended UNC Greensboro in the sixties. She had a pleasant singing voice and guitar back-up.

Larry Lou was a phenomenal woman, artist, and teacher. She taught me bookbinding when I attended PSC and it was a transformative class. I still think about her to this day, and use her many phrases like 'gnat's eyelash' and 'cats whisker' when referring to units of measure. She transformed who I am as an artist, and she was a mark of beauty on the world as a whole.

Ms. Foster was such a well-respected teacher at PSC. I had the privilege of taking her drawing class where we made a genuine connection over drawing, middle eastern culture, and food. She would always tell me to get my drawings copyrighted. On one very special day, Ms. Foster brought in handmade bread that she got from a local church, handmade blueberry jelly, and freshly ground peanut butter. Ms. Foster then proceeded to make the class the most delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwiches...

Larry Lou, My inspiration! I'm so grateful for our last visit, and shocked to find you no longer here. You showed the way for all of us. You and that big white van, leaning out the window with an enthusiastic smile...your wonderful way of Living is with me forever. Love you always.

The world has lost a truly generous and gifted soul. Although I haven't seen her in several years, I think of her daily, because pieces of her exquisitely detailed and whimsical art hang throughout my home. She lives on through her many creations.

Louise Lawrence Foster's legacy will live-on in old Tuskaloosa, for her contributions, and those of her noble ancestors, are irreplaceable in today's society.

I grew up next house to hers in Fosters and always thought of Larry Lou as exotic and very special! Being invited to her home was a treat! Jerome Adams

It was my great pleasure to be Larry Lou's friend, beginning in high school. In recent years, I visited her in her home while in Tuscaloosa spending time with my mother. She was one-of-a-kind, a true artist, who lived life entirely on her own terms. The world has lost a treasure.
