Louise M. Mock

Was saddened to learn just today (Aug 27) of the passing of a dear friend and fellow commissioner on the Fire Merit commission, Louise Mock. I had the privilege of working alongside Louise for some 10 years where we spent many hours in discussion in bringing legislative change to strengthening the hiring practices for the Michigan City Fire Department. And her commitment to her Commission work was so valued she would become the first woman, let alone first African American, to eventually...

Louise was such a sweet and dear person. 55 years ago, when Louise worked at Danner´s in Karwick Plaza, she sold us an angel for the top of our Christmas tree. Every year since, that same angel goes on top of the tree. And we think of Louise. We stayed in contact, as she was one of our customers at The Joy of Flowers for many years. God rest her precious soul.
