Colonial Funeral Homes - Brick Obituary

Louise Tripodi passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at the age of 90.  Born in New York City and raised in the historic Village, Louise carried the values of hard work, family, and resilience throughout her life. In 1956, she married Louis Tripodi, who affectionately called her his Lou-Lou, and together they built a life in Staten Island before relocating to Brick, New Jersey in 2001 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Louise is predeceased by her husband Louis Tripodi, her grandson Matthew Mazzocchi, and her brother Robert Chiesa. She is survived by her son Frank Tripodi and his wife Karen, her daughter Cathy Tripodi and her husband Mike Sofchak, her sister-in-law, Lucy Chiesa, and four granddaughters: Christine Tripodi, Alyssa Vance (Jon), Lauren Pearl (Arty), and Justine Mazzocchi. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Kara, Kayla, Carina, Carter, and Francessca.

She was known for her skill and precision in sewing—altering uniforms, repairing hems, and tailoring garments for her family. Her cooking was a constant presence at family gatherings, especially Christmas Eve dinners, where she prepared her own version of the Italian “Feast of the Seven Fishes.” The biggest staple was mini lobster tails, which she insistently referred to as “slippers.” Her meatballs, braciole, and homemade gravy were also mainstays, remembered as part of the rhythm of family tradition.

In her later years, Louise found comfort in the home she had built with her husband, reflecting on a life well-lived and welcoming visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday 3-7 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held 9am at St. Dominic’s Church, Brick. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. In lieu of flowers donations in Louise’s memory to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
