Louria Gwendolyn Day

Gwen was 6th grader in Ann Arbor's Angell School when I transferred there into the 3rd grade. With that I doubled the enrollment of its African American children! I eventually followed her to Ann Arbor Senior High, where she was the only student of color on its team of cheerleaders. She was always a beautiful and energetic presence, and I could only wish we might have met again over the years. May she rest in God's peace, and her family and friends know God's consolation...

I went to elementary school in Ann Arbor with Gwen. I remember her as my friend, I have thought about her over the years and wondered what her adult life has been like. My condolences to her family.
