Loyd Waldrop Obituary

Loyd Eugene Waldrop

Palm Bay

Loyd was born September 27th 1929 in Nashville Tennessee, son of Clarence and Sarah Waldrop. He passed away March 8th, 2016, with his family by his side.

He graduated from high school in Columbia, Tennessee, in 1948; was a member of the Chess Club and played the trombone in the school's marching band.  Loyd entered Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee, where he majored in Chemistry. In 1951, he entered the US Army Medical Corp. and served in Heidelberg and Berlin, Germany, for four years.

He met and married his wife, Eva-Marie Juhre in 1954.  They have 3 Children; Franziska Meek nee Waldrop, Thomas Waldrop and Jeanette Smith nee Waldrop; and her husband Marc.

Loyd served 23 years in the Army in various military hospitals, including Texas, New Jersey, Maryland, and again, Germany.  He retired in 1974 at the rank of Master Sergeant.

After retirement from military life, he worked 20 years in the laboratory at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida, making their home in Florida ever since.

Loyd enjoyed teaching Sunday school, loved wood working, fishing and traveling, also loved to read.  He gave a helping hand to all. He will be truly missed by all he touched during his life.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7359 Babcock Street, SE, Palm Bay, Florida.
