Dear Jerry and Patti,

Julie and I are so sorry for your loss.

Dear Patty and Jerry,
I was shocked to learn of the death of your son, Luke. All of Jerry's old Marquette friends in Chicago are saddened by this tragedy. Please accept my and my families condolences.I know he was a wonderful boy by all I read and the fact you are his parents. This must be a horrifying time for you. All our prayers are with you.

Mr. and Mrs. Homan,
I didn't know your son. He was a friend of my daughters at LAX. Yet I still feel this intense sadness when I think of the last week. Some day I am going to write to you and let you know the wonderful things I've heard about your son. You must be so proud. He was a gift...to everyone who met him. Please know that there are a lot of people in this world who are praying for you.

I pray for you each day. The service for Luke was so beautiful and the music you chose was a great comfort to all who attended. Tim sang with strength and love. I am truly inspired by your faith and Luke's faith also was evident. Your personal message was heart-warming and heart-breaking. What wonderful parents you are! The coaches spoke for so many of us as we all knew in our hearts that Luke was a gentle, caring big guy - (like his dad) and also friendly and cheerful(like his mom) - a...

My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead.

To the entire Family of Luke Homan: Please know that you have been in my prayers since the beginning of this long ordeal. The network of wonderful people that has known your family for so many years came forth in such a tremendous tribute to search for their lost friend. The presence of so many people at the vigil and funeral Mass are but another demonstration of the quality of son you raised. I thank you for the welcome you gave me 11 years ago in the AAU program, and the friendship we...

Though it's been a few years since Neeskara playground when we shot it up, we were able to see Luke play for UWM in the NCAA in Cleveland. I was and am proud to brag that Luke is Jerry's son. Please accept our deepest sympathy. Our prayers are with you.

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. Our deepest condolences are with you as you grieve. As you probably know, we lost our daughter, Lynn, in July. So, we really do feel your pain.
All I can say is, day by day, it does get a little better. But, it never goes away. Cry when you need to and don't hold back. But, also, rejoice in that he is in a better place than we know.
