Lucas Matthew Schaffer, a beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend, was born on January 30, 2004, in Charleston, South Carolina. He passed away on June 19, 2025.
Lucas was a bright individual who embraced life with both enthusiasm and passion. He graduated from Montgomery Central High School, where his talents shone through on the football field as a proud member of the Montgomery Central Indians team. His time at high school was marked by camaraderie and memorable moments that he cherished deeply. He was a talented and mechanically-minded young man, making his mark as a dedicated service technician for Valvoline Instant Oil Change. Lucas loved being outdoors, especially while fishing. He also loved his heavenly father and trusted in the Lord.
A man of integrity and warmth, Lucas had a profound love for his family and friends. He valued the bonds he created throughout his life, making a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to have known him. Lucas is survived by his parents, Sumer Brown and Josh Herndon. He leaves behind his siblings, Randall Schaffer and Haley Herndon, as well as his adored grandparents, Jeannie Schaffer, Tammy Gaither, John Gaither, Clair Cox, and Mark Cox. He is also survived by his aunt, Ashton Smith (Brian), and his girlfriend, Sarabeth Mackens. He was preceded in death by his father, David Schaffer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00PM Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. His family will receive friends from 1:00PM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Lucas's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends, whose lives he touched with kindness, laughter, and unyielding support. He will be remembered not just for his achievements but for the joy he brought to those around him.
