Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors - Denton Obituary

Lucas H. Tucker, 24 of Denton passed away on January 21, 2018 in Denton. He was born on February 15, 1993 in Carrollton, Texas to Charles and Sara (Murchison) Tucker.

Lucas was Baptized at Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, NC.  He went to preschool at First United Methodist Church of Denton.  He was a Cub Scout, loved sports and played soccer, basketball, and football in Denton city leagues and Denton ISD.  He attended Straight Arrow Christian Camp on Lake Texoma each summer until obtaining his “Indian Chief Headdress” and was a counselor after graduating.

Lucas attended Sam Houston Elementary School, McMath Middle School, and graduated from Denton High School, where he was runner-up for Homecoming King his senior year.  He also received the unofficial “Best Hugs Award”.

Lucas was a full-time student at the University of North Texas in Denton, where he loved campus life and was majoring in Biology.  UNT is flying the school flag at half-mast for the next week in his honor, and will present it to the family next week.   Lucas was also a manager at Domino’s Pizza for several years.

Lucas was a gifted musician and vocalist.  He could play any instrument well; however, he especially loved playing guitar.  He sang and played in multiple local bands, and made music CD’s and videos with the band members, including his brother Charlie who was always there on the drums.

Lucas loved life, people, animals, and especially children.  He wanted to become a teacher after graduation.  Lucas was always kind, positive, uplifting, and loving.  He never refrained from saying “I love you” to those closest to him.  He looked out for everyone around him with love, comfort, protection, and support.  Lucas was a fun-loving, kind soul and never had a harsh word to say about anyone.

Lucas was in love with Mayra Guevara of Denton, his long-time girlfriend.  Please include her in your prayers.  Lucas had two pets, Doug “the digger” dog and Beans the cat.  Both pets were adopted from the City of Denton Animal Shelter.

He is survived by his mother and father, Sara and Chuck Tucker of Denton, younger sister Mary Tucker of Denton, older brother Charlie Tucker of Denton, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The Family will receive friends at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 6-8 PM. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors at 2:00 PM.

Not sure what to say?

Lucas, I'm about to turn 30. I should be texting you to see what it's like... How has it been 6 years already? I still expect to see you when I visit home. I miss you, brother. xx Kat

Lucas, we never got super close but any memory I have of you is happy. My heart still sings when I think about you playing a silly death metal song, "Chugga Chugga" with my husband at a house show. You didn't have a mean bone in your body. You have touched so many lives and brightened each one of them. You are missed and loved more than you'll ever know.

An unimaginable loss. He was a wonderful friend to my daughter Katherine. From our entire family, please accept our condolences.

Sara, Chuck, Charlie, and Mary, I want to express my deepest sympathies to you all for the loss of Lucas. I met your sweet family at the FUMC Children's Day Out program back when our children were in preschool. My heart has been broken for your family ever since I heard the tragic news. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry for your loss. I taught Lucas and Mary in third grade at Sam Houston. I remember him as a sweet lovable little boy who was kind to everyone.
Pat Peters

Chuck, My thoughts and condolences are with you and your family during this very difficult time.

Chuck, My thoughts and prayers to you and the family. Lucas walks with God now, but is always with you at your side.
Linda

Sara, Chuck, Charlie and Mary:

It does not seem that long ago that we were carpooling to FUMC for pre-school. Our entire family was heartbroken to have received the news of Lucas' passing. We send you all love, light, courage and strength during this difficult time.

Doug had a spirited conversation under the fence with Watson and Dixie this afternoon. We're gonna take good care of him for you. Rest easy, Lucas. Way too soon.
