She was always very nice to me and even though I had only seen her once since we graduated from high school in 1969, I had thought of her fondly over the years. Dearest Catherine and Maria,

Your mom had been on my mind for several days – I was wondering how her trip to Scotland was going, how the new chemo was working, how her spirits were holding up, I was thinking how great it was that she had a partner who supported her emotionally and intellectually. I was so saddened by the news of her passing. Mary told me you were both with her, how wonderful for all of you.

There is no way to adequately describe the warmth, empathy, humor and intelligence of our Lisa. There is a hole in my heart now. She was the best friend anyone could imagine. And how she loved her daughters! She embraced life and those important to her in an indescribable way. She is missed..

It is so difficult to sum up the qualities,talents and incredible spirit that Lisa possessed, but this obituary has done it extremely well. To Lisa's family: I just want to send my deep condolences to you all especially Maria and Catherine. I knew your mom for nearly 36 years. Although we did not see each other often, it was with great joy that I looked forward to spending time with her when she visited San Francisco. Your mom was a rare and gifted beauty and will be greatly missed. Sorrow is temporary but love is infinite. Abby

It is so hard to find the words to express my sadness and loss. My dear friend and soulmate. We shared many highs and lows and kept each afloat many times. A beautiful woman, strong and gentle at the same time. I will keep her with me always.

Words cannot express what a huge loss I feel. Sweet, loving and kind only begin to describe Lisa. We have but a few extraordinary people in our lives and for me she is one of them. She was the most real and courageous person imaginable. May God hold her close until we all meet again.
