Lucile P. Bezek

Obituary

Bezek, Lucile P. (Senesac) age 93, of Minnetonka, formerly of Baudette, MN, passed after a long and fruitful life. She was preceded in death by husband, Frank, and eldest son, Jerry. Survived by daughter, Kris, and six sons, Bob, Tom, Doug, John, Mike, and Bill. Born in Windom, MN, in 1913, Lue tended horses, hunted with her brothers and father, Joseph, and learned gardening and sewing from her mother, Mary, at an early age. Filled with a loving and adventurous spirit, she pursued a higher education and graduated from the University of Minnesota Agricultural School in St. Paul. As a petite, 98-pound beauty, she married Frank in 1939. Their romance blossomed into eight children, seven boys and one girl. Lue was a dedicated 4-H leader, participating in the excitement and energy of both county and state fairs for many years. She was also a member of numerous garden clubs and in 1983 won the MN State Horticultural Society Award of Merit for Service to Minnesota Horticulture. Her distinctive and dedicated craft also included quilting and the growing, preserving, and cooking of varied foods for family and friends. Lue's admirable work ethic encompassed family, jobs, home, and church. For many years, she rose at 4 a.m. to work at Sir Knights Cleaners in Glen Lake, headed home to make lunch for her children, returned to finish the work day, then was back home again before her kids were out of school. She gardened for hours each day, made a large dinner for everyone, and inevitably fell asleep in front of the 10 o'clock news. A woman of strength, integrity, and high values, guided by a deep personal faith in Christ, she constantly reached out in love of others. Her volunteer service included working with the Baudette food shelf, providing her own flowers weekly for the church altar, and baking for various fundraisers. Lue became the matriarch of several community families in the Glen Lake area of Minnetonka, as well as in Baudette, where she and Frank resided for 17 years. In Glen Lake, Lue and Frank were charter members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and broke ground on the original structure. Later, they were both very involved with Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baudette. After Frank's death in 1993, Lue returned to Minnetonka and lived across the street from where she raised her family. She worked around the house and gardens with her daughter, Kris, until her passing at home on 3/20/07. A celebration of her humble yet extraordinary life will be held at 11 AM Sat., March 31st at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 13505 Excelsior Blvd., Minnetonka. Donations to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.

Aunt Lue,I have so many wonderful memories, from the all family graduations parties, family birthday parties, making eggnog for breakfast after midnight mass on Christmas Eve just to mention a few. I remember when Michael and I along with Joe and Linda visited you and Frank in Baudette. Your gardens we amazing. Then there was the quilting your did, especially the one gave us for our wedding. It was made from mens ties. You never wasted anything. You were always an inspiration to me. I'm glad...

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Tom. May you find comfort and support in your good memories and be consoled by her legacy.

Aunt Lou always brought happiness to who ever she touched. My fondest memories are all the family get togethers with all the Aunts, Uncles and cousins. There was always so much laughter and fun, summer picnics, breakfast after Christmas Eve mass, making sausage, sliding down the big hill in the winter. But most of all, the best memory of all is walking up the path from our house to hers just to visit. May we all hold her close in our hearts and remember the good times.

My thoughts...

Grandma was such an amazing person, influencing and inspiring so many people. Just start listing and where can you stop: flowers, canning, cribbage, peas, walleye, raspberries, the rosary......

Thank you to everyone who has commented here, and to everyone who stopped by, called, and sent cards during her final weeks. As her obituary mentioned, Grandma was a true matriarch, a mother beyond the brood she gave birth to. While we are sad to see her go, we all know she will be welcomed by...

I had the privilege of helping put together some picture boards for the service on Saturday. Book after book we saw so many happy friends and family! God blessed Grandma Lue's life in so many ways, and he blessed ours by sharing her with us! She is a wonderful role model and I have only fond memories of her.

Chris,
