Not sure what to say?

I was looking on line, something I don't do. But my thoughts turned to people that have meant much to me, and here I am. She was my teacher friend and neighbor. Mother figure, warm heart. to this day I think of her. Yes, there is no blue food. Her words and correct. I worked for Jasper, a couple of years out of high school. I miss them both to this day. Thinking of them often. P.S. peggy your mother would mention you. I have a wonderful memory of a store and your mother swedish...

Peggy, I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. I often ran into your parents at the YMCA and Fred Meyer and always enjoyed chatting. Having you so close to them was surely one of their greatest blessings. Your mother's photograph from years ago so strikingly resembles you! Bet you've heard that hundreds of times.

It is so heart-warming for our families to read these thoughtful comments - we are very grateful for your sharing! Jim, Peg & families

Lucile Lyons was a very special lady! As a teacher, she was gentle and encouraging, making her students feel capable and talented. She was clearly loved and respected by all who had the honor of knowing her. She dedicated her life to teaching, encouraging and helping others, and will be missed. Rest in peace, dear Mrs. Lyons.

Mrs. Lyons was an amazing example to each and every girl she taught at Monroe. Not just the subject she was teaching at the moment, but what a lady of compassion, intelligence, class and humanity should be. My sincere gratitude to her family for sharing such a treasure with thousands of young girls of Portland.

Lucile Lyons was not only a wonderful teacher, but a beautiful human being. I don't remember ever not knowing her, so was thrilled when I had the opportunity to enroll in her class. There were times when I taught her a few 'tricks of the trade', but I learned so much from her. I can still whip up Lu Lyons' Fluffy Frosting-without looking at the recipe. I never did make blue food--at least, not willingly! I don't know where I'd be today without her influence. Thank you, Lu, for being such a...

I was saddened to hear about Mrs. Lyons passing. As many others, she was my teacher at Monroe all 4 yrs (72-76). She became a life long family friend, which I'll forever treasure memories of her. She was a well loved teacher, full of positive encouragement, good listener, and a pleasure to spend part of your day with. She and Jasper were avid bowlers back in their day, sharing laughter with those around them. My sisters and I still to this day use her frosting recipe which we renamed Lou...

Mrs. Lyons was exactly like June Cleaver, only she was real and had a job.
Many great memories at her home.

My condolences to the Lyons family on the loss of this great lady. Mrs. Lyons was my home economics teacher at James Monroe, and she was the Best of the Best! What a loving and patient person. I will never forget her teaching us how to balance a checkbook! May you be surrounding by loving memories. Class of 1974
