Lucille E (Simard) Long, 68, of Plymouth, NH, died July 27, 2006, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Manchester, NH on August 3, 1937, she was the daughter of Herve J. and Jeanne Rose (Desilets) Simard. She resided in Manchester most of her life.
Mrs. Long attended Saint Marie School and Saint Augustin School.
During the 1950’s, Mrs. Long was a member of the Ground Observer Corps at Grenier Air Field.
Early in her career , she worked at McGraw-Edison for many years. Until her retirement, she co-owned and operated North Country Trailer Sales of Plymouth.
She was a long time communicant of Saint Joseph Cathedral, Manchester and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary Chapter 1.
Mrs. Long enjoyed handstitching, reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, and feeding wild birds.
She was married to Daniel J. Long Jr. for forty-four years. He died June 16, 2000.
Family members include three sons, Steven P. Long of Sacramento, CA, Michael D. Long of Manchester, Thomas R. Long of Manchester; three daughters, Debra Talbot of Plymouth, NH, Kathleen J. Coventry of Hillsboro, NH, and Lisa M. Bunker of Manchester; seventeen grandchildren, one great-grandson; five brothers, Andre Simard of Hooksett, NH, Raymond Simard of Manchester, Denis Simard of Manchester, Maurice Simard of Deerfield, and Edward Simard of Manchester; three sisters, Mrs. Francis (Lorraine) Roberge of Milton, NH, Mrs. Michael (Collette) Makar of Deerfield, NH and Celina Simard of Manchester; several nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Elroy Lehman of Plymouth, NH.
Services: Calling hours are Friday from 5 to 8 PM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10AM in the funeral with the Rev. Patricia Bona.
Burial will take place in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to the American Red Cross Blood Services New England Region, 425 Reservoir Ave., Manchester, NH 03104.
