When I moved to Salem, VA in 1974 fresh our of college to teach second , I didn't know a soul. But my mother thankfully knew Lucille Middleton from Presbytery work, and she was instrumental in my adjusting to a new town and to living on my own for the first time. She helped me find an apartment, invited me to join the choir at Salem Presbyterian Church and when I married, she gave a luncheon.
