Lucille Beatrice Moreau Mroczek was called to join our Lord on Wednesday, September 30 surrounded by her family. Born in Holyoke, MA in 1929, Lucille was the 2nd of 4 children to Philippe & Mary Beatrice Moreau. In 1950, she married Conrad Mroczek and relocated to Seattle, WA where she would put down roots for the remainder of her lifetime.
All throughout her life, Lucille had an incredible work ethic which was an inspiration to all. Her dedication and determination allowed her to become a successful entrepreneur. In 1951, the family opened a small art supply store on “The Ave” which catered to many U-Dub students and NW artists. Lucille had a knack for numbers, a smart business sense, and provided friendly customer service. By 1966, the family embarked on a new trending adventure and opened Seattle Auction Palace in the Roosevelt Neighborhood. Live auctions were conducted every Thursday evening where Lucille oversaw all the business operations. In 1975, the auction business was passed on to her sons, and Lucille opened Silhouette Antiques & Gifts just around the corner. Lucille operated the store 6 days a week, where she became a stable in the neighborhood. She also continued to work as the cashier during auctions for Mroczek Brothers Auctioneers/Seattle Auction House.
Family meant everything to Lucille, and she always beamed with pride when speaking about them. Lucille provided unconditional love, was a great listener, and possessed a fighting spirit. She loved life, had a fantastic sense of humor, enjoyed card playing, and rooting for the home team. Always determined, her signature saying was “You do what you got to do”.
Lucille is survived by her children Lawrence Mroczek (Judi); Kenneth Mroczek (Sheila); Catherine Saxby (Doug); Barbara Donaldson (Raymond); and Mary Bradley (Houston); 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Norman Moreau (Norma) of South Hadley, MA. Preceded in death by daughters Valerie McLean in 2009 and Patricia Mroczek in 2000, siblings Rev. Earnest Moreau of Chicopee, MA and Sheila Marie Clark of Tampa, FL.
Due to COVID restrictions a celebration of life will be scheduled for April 2021. A private funeral mass was previously held at St. Catherine of Sienna Church with internment at Calvary Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the ICU staff at Swedish First Hill for their compassionate care during the final hours.
