Lucio Prado, 75, of Berlin, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Corradina (Valvo) Prado. Born in Noto, Province of Sicily, Italy, son of the late Salvatore and Marianna (DiMartino) Prado, he resided in Berlin for the past 35 years. Lucio was formerly employed by Colt Industries, Hartford for many years and was a member of St. Ann's Church, New Britain. He served in the Italian Army and played semi-professional soccer in Italy, and was a member of the Generale Ameglio Civic Association, New Britain. His survivors include his two daughters and their spouses, Marina and Todd Talmadge of Goodlettsville, TN, and Lori and Jim Desiderio of Pepperell, MA; his grandchildren Samuel, Trevor, Oliver and India Talmadge, Amanda and Jenna Desiderio, Tyler and Hannah Barrett, Ronald, Lucas, and Salvatore Prado, Jr.; son-in-law Tod Barrett of Newington; daughter-in-law Tina Perrault-Prado of Southington; his sister Rita Nocifora of Lighthouse Point, FL; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Rosetta and Benito Farina, and Paolo and Paola Valvo; and nieces and nephews, Salvatore Nocifora, Susanna DiEdwardo, Robert Nocifora, Guiseppe Nocifora, Marcello Nocifora, Melinda Tallman, Salvatore Farina, Guiseppe Valvo and Lorenzo Valvo. He was pre-deceased by his children, Marianna Barrett and Salvatore Prado, and his brother-in-law Alfio Nocifora. His family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to John Scotella, Paul Ciarcia and Al Derrucci for their kindness and devotion to Lucio in his final days. His funeral service will begin on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
