OAKLAWN FUNERAL HOME - EDNA Obituary

Lucky Francis Wells II

Lucky Francis Wells II was born January 6, 1953, to John (Pat) and Jane Wells of Edna. On November 10, 2024, he was welcomed into the arms of the Lord at 71 years of age.

Lucky graduated from Edna High School in 1971 and enrolled in Texas A&M University as a member of the Corps of Cadets before he left to join the family concrete and ready-mix business; Wells-Wright. He would assume the role of President until the company sold and he moved to Bastrop, Texas to settle with his new wife and start a family. He managed the concrete company in Bastrop for over 30 years before he retired to Edna and built a house in the country.

Lucky loved family: his three brothers were his closest friends. He was a devout Texan and an incredible historian of Texas and the Wells family history. He loved George Strait, slow scenic drives, and hard work.

Lucky is survived by his wife of 39 years, Tracy Fenner Wells; son, Lucky Wells III and his wife Christi and daughter Beth DeGeorge and her husband Jason; his grandchildren Landon, Wells, Lucky IV, and Summer; his brothers, John Wells (Marla), Robert Wells (Donna), and sister-in-law Linda Wells (Charles).

Lucky is preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Fenner Wells, his parents, Pat and Jane Wells, and his brother Charles Wells.

Pallbearers will be Jason DeGeorge, Clarke Wells, Jacob Wells, William Wells, Curtis Kerth III, Brent Debord, Kurt Janica, Kyle Marek, Lucas Vance, Brad Currin, and Cameron Wells.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. also in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna, Texas. Pastor Andy Schroer will be officiating.

Memorial donations may be made in Lucky’s name to the Cowboys Who Care Foundation, 601 Marion Dr., Garland, Texas 75042 or at www.cowboyswhocare.org

Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna. 361-782-2221. www.oaklawnfhednatx.com
